It is not by accident that Company KOSIT a.s. (Inc.) logo says ‚Services and technologies for environment’. This message says a lot. It is about relationship of society with environment and society with community to which the services are dedicated.
KOSIT a.s. attempts to spread this company policy further to wider circle of people, especially children and youngsters. As a part of socially responsible enterprise it takes part in environmentally educational projects that focus on education and promotion of separable waste.

Education and promotion of separable waste has been emphasized since the outset of separable waste collection in Kosice. With relation to inhabitants, the effort is focused on participation in environmental awareness and systematically information of people on rules of separable waste collection as well as possibilities of their participation in systems and gaining feedback. Various printed forms are used for this purpose – such as article publishing, company Correspondent, Collection Calendar, local TV interviews, interviews on Kosice radio, information booths at exhibitions and events and other supporting tools of communication.

As it was mentioned above, the priority is to use and assess the potential of pre-school and school children. Our long-term aim is to systematically provide information on waste management issues – i.e. municipal waste, separated collection and waste recovery – whether in form of recycling or thermal termination. We also talk about the fact that prevention of waste production is the best step for improvement of our environment. We motivate children by various competitions where the focus is not just on one-off collections but the children should gain skills and also conviction that waste separation is a must if they want to live in healthy environment.
With our arrival in Kosice market we introduced ‘Model Schools’ project in which 16 primary and secondary schools in Kosice participated. Education of students at individual schools was conducted under the supervision of the Department of Environment and Process Control of Mechanical Engineering Faculty of TU.
KOSIT a.s. established the first Centre for Environmental Education in Slovakia in 2007. Establishment of this centre followed after previous company activities in field of implementation of separated collection and environmental education that has been done by KOSIT since 2002.
Other significant activities of KOSIT a.s. include out-door creative activities for children such as Earth Day, Enviro Show and brain battle – the Environmental Olympics. The latest project is the education of pre-school children in so called ‘Model Nursery Schools’ with active participation of potential future teachers and after school club teachers
All our activities are focused on promotion of environmental education, to make our young people aware that by their own approach to environment and nature they can protect it for next generations.
