Subsidiaries and other operations

The biogas plant is built for the purpose of collection and recovery of biodegradable waste, including kitchen bio-waste, by production and use of biogas for electricity generation. The waste treatment technology is anaerobic mesophilic fermentation, so-called 'wet fermentation'. The biogas plant is located adjacent to the Waste-to-Energy Facility (WEF) and was acquired by KOSIT in 2021.

East Paper, spol. s r.o. was established in 2004. Its primary focus was the collection and recycling of waste paper for the needs of the only producer of cardboard in Slovakia. Over time, East Paper began to perform other tasks in the field of secondary raw materials processing, namely the pressing of all types of plastics and aluminum packaging. In 2011, the company expanded its activities to the city of Prešov, where a tunnel press was installed and where secondary raw materials began to be sorted and processed for KOSIT a.s.

The company was established in 1997 and its main activity is business in the field of waste management in the region of Košice region and operation of the landfill for non-hazardous waste Veľké Ozorovce (I. and II. cassette). After 1 January 2002, the landfill disposed of municipal waste and waste from industry in the category of other waste. The landfill is located about 500 m west of the village of Veľké Ozorovce, about 1 km to the left of the state road III. class Zemplínska Teplica - Sečovce, on the territory of the former unmanaged landfill. The company has been in the KOSIT Group portfolio since April 2017.

CSO Petrovce a. s. (formerly Ozón Hanušovce, a.s.) was established in 1997. It operates the non-hazardous waste landfill Petrovce - Hanušovce. The landfill site is located west of the village of Petrovce. Access to the landfill is provided by an asphalt road, which is a branch of the state road of III. class Hanušovce nad Topľou - Petrovce. The landfill is mainly used to deposit waste from the districts of Vranov nad Topľou, Prešov, Košice and Svidník. The company has been in the KOSIT Group portfolio since April 2017.

CSO Sirník, originally known as REMKO Sirník s.r.o., joined the KOSIT a.s. group in 2009 as the owner of a non-hazardous waste landfill in the municipality of Sirník. This landfill of regional importance has suitably complemented the range of activities of KOSIT a.s. in the field of non-incinerable waste or waste generated as a by-product of the treatment and thermal recovery of waste. The construction of the new cassette provided sufficient capacity for the disposal of waste generated in the region that is not suitable for thermal recovery. Another facility managed by CSO Sirník s.r.o. since May 2019 is the Myslina - Lúčky landfill. The landfill is located about 1 km from the town of Humenné in the cadastre of the village of Myslina and belongs to the class of landfills for non-hazardous waste.

The company CSO Nána s.r.o. has been operating the "Landfill - Nána" since July 1999. The Nána Landfill is a non-hazardous waste disposal facility. It is situated in the cadastral territory of the village of Nána, in the locality of the former Nový Dvor lighthouse, approximately 5 km from the village of Nána. The landfill is accessible by an asphalt road which connects to the national road and is about 2 km long. The construction of the new cassette will provide sufficient capacity for the disposal of waste arising in the region. The waste collection area for this landfill is mainly the city of Štúrovo, municipalities and towns of the southern region. CSO Nána s.r.o., originally under the trade name EKOREAL s.r.o., became one of the companies of the KOSIT Group in December 2021. www.kositwest.sk
