Collection of edible oils and fats

Act No. 79/2015 Coll. 81(7)(b) obliges all municipalities to ensure the separate collection of biodegradable municipal waste.

How to sort edible oils and fats

Positive impacts of collection and sorting:

  • The volume of sorted edible oils enters positively into the calculation of the sorting rate in the municipality
  • Elimination of clogging of waste pipes
  • Prevention of sewerage network accidents
  • Reduction of wastewater pollution and reduction of CO2 production
  • Saving natural resources through waste recycling (recycled oil is part of biofuels)

How to sort edible oils and fats


All edible oils and fats used in the household for food preparation

  • vegetable oils
  • oil from salads
  • oil from canned foods (fish in oil, sun-dried tomatoes, pickled cheese, etc.)
  • barbecue marinades
  • solid fats (butter, lard)
  • frying and deep-frying oil

It is only allowed to put waste in closed plastic bottles!
