The City of Košice in cooperation with KOSIT a.s. is launching a pilot project of separate collection of used edible oils and fats in September 2022.
What belongs in the collection of edible oils and fats
How the system works
Residents have 120 litre orange bins available at selected bin sites and also at local authority premises. Used oil in a tightly sealed plastic bottle should be placed in these collection containers. Oil should not be poured into the plastic bottle through a strainer.
A new 120 litre orange collection container marked Edible Oils and Fats has been added to selected container sites at residential dwellings and local authority premises
After using edible oils and fats, each resident has the option of collecting this waste in a plastic bottle, which is then tightly closed and placed in an orange collection container. This way the oil does not end up in the waste pipe and can be disposed of
From October 2022, KOSIT will empty the orange bins and collect the waste for further recovery at a frequency of once every two months, or as needed and full.
Used oils and fats are taken to a biogas plant for recovery
