Why the Centre for Environmental Education (CEV) was created

The Centre was established in 2007 as one of the many activities of KOSIT a.s. in cooperation with the KOSIT Foundation. Primarily, the CEV offers children and youth experiential education in the field of ecological waste treatment with an emphasis on its material and energy recovery. The aim of the centre's programme is to inspire in young people a favourable attitude towards environmental protection.

We are aware of our social responsibility in educating the next generation. CEV's main objective is therefore to spread awareness in one of the key areas in relation to sustainability and a green future for the planet. More than 55 thousand children have received education at the Environmental Education Centre so far, with 1,500 children participating in the online programme during the pandemic period.

Teaching is intended for:

  • kindergartens (kindergartens),
  • primary schools (primary schools),
  • secondary schools (SŠ),
  • universities (HEIs),
  • leisure centres and various associations.

Appointments need to be arranged via the online booking form.

What participants will learn

During the interactive lecture, participants will learn, for example, how much waste we produce annually in Slovakia, what are the principles of proper waste sorting, what impact our consumer behaviour has on climate change, why it is already necessary to adopt new habits towards a circular economy, how polluted our country is with waste and how waste can be converted into energy and heat.

The content also includes "instructions" on what each of us can do to create less waste, sort the waste we produce, help nature and prevent pollution.
